Winter Wedding at Charnock Farm
Laura and Jonny’s Wedding at Charnock Farm, Lelyand
Another new wedding venue for me which is just so exciting - Charnock Farm in Leyland. I joined the Bridal party in the morning who got ready at Charnock Farm and spent the day with the delights of Rich Gabriel (Videographer) and Alex Birtwell (Entertainer) we had a ball and Laura and Jon couldn’t have been more lovely!
How they met…
Laura and Jonny met back in 2013 through their best friends, Leann & Dan who were their Best Man and Chief Bridesmaid on the Wedding day. They met on a night out for Jon’s birthday and on their way home (very drunk) they had a moment they both won’t forget - ‘We were all walking back to Jon’s Mums and on the way there, you have to walk through a small opening in the gates through to a path. As we both squeezed through, I gave Jon a little nudge and laughed as Jon stumbled through. Not to be out-done Jon gave me the same little nudge back…or at least that’s what he thought he did!! Jon says I did my best Bambi on ice impression just before I hit the deck and he was left standing there thinking he’s just ruined any chance he had. Luckily for him, and despite the bleeding and the scar I still have to this day, I saw the funny side! So Jon tells everyone that I fell head over heels for him…literally!’ Laura.
The Engagement…
They got engaged In January 2018. Jon booked a weekend away in the Lake District where they went for a long walk. I will let Laura tell the rest… ‘and then we spent the afternoon in the hot tub before Jon told me that ‘I almost looked perfect’ to which I scoffed ‘ALMOST!!’ and then he got down on one knee and said there was just one thing I was missing as he opened up the ring box and asked me to marry him, to which I obviously started crying before finally saying YES!’ How cute?!
The Planning…
Laura told me that she found the planning of the wedding fairly straight forward mainly because it was only nine months between getting engaged and getting married so you have to be decisive and once you have made a descision you don’t have time to change your mind. Laura’s favourite part of wedding planning was booking their dream venue, and her least favourite part was not being able to tell everyone what they had in store. And Jon loved the fact that it seemed to organise itself - oh Jon…
The Wedding…
On the day the ceremony and reception were held at Charnock Farm, guests were entertained by Alex Birtwell whilst I whisked the couple off for a walk around the grounds. I asked the couple what their favourite parts of the day were and Laura said ‘Walking down the aisle and seeing Jon turn around and then meeting him at the bottom, it’s hard to explain all the feelings you feel in that moment, it’s so special.’ Jon said ‘Seeing Laura as she walked down the aisle, playing Jenga, having some time together whilst we went for a walk for pictures. Oh and all the food!’ What he doesn’t tell you there is that the Jenga was a high risk game, playing on a balcony where it could fall any second on to the guests below!
What advice do you offer to future couples planning their wedding…
‘Choose your suppliers wisely and get them booked early. They make your day and a good supplier will make things so much easier for you. I would always advise that people meet with suppliers because you want to feel comfortable with them and confident that they are the right choice.’ Laura. Jon quickly followed that with ‘Just say yes to whatever the bride wants’.
Supplier shout out!
Gemma from Bluebelles & Daisies – she is just the loveliest woman and was so helpful in planning the day. We are so glad we asked Gemma to do our flowers and can't thank her enough for how amazing everything looked.
Charnock Farm and especially our co-ordinator Danielle; she was so helpful and lovely from the beginning and simply could not do enough for us. We could not fault the whole team on the day, they were fantastic and the day ran perfectly and the food was absolutely delicious.
Alex Birtwell Entertainment from the start he was so friendly and professional and put us at ease and made us extremely excited to have him as part of our day. We had Alex all day at our wedding and he was fantastic. All our guests commented on how good he was and how he made our day so much fun.
Alfred & Co Photography (ME!) - I wasn’t going to include but, you know) I know you’re going to think of course we would say this as you’ve asked but…you! You were just fabulous, you made us feel so at ease the moment we met you and we just knew that having you around on the day of our wedding to capture it was the best decision and it was. You are so warm and friendly and just made us feel at ease and you were just lovely to have with us and it shows because our pictures are so natural and that’s exactly was we wanted.
Thanks so much Laura and Jonny, its been amazing getting to know you and it was a beautiful day… here are some of favourite images from the day. Please feel free to leave a message for the couple at the bottom of the page and for a full list of suppliers scroll to the bottom.
