Dog Friendly Wedding at Owen House Barn

Katy and matt's wedding photography at owen house barn, cheshire

The wonderful Katy and Matt booked me to photograph their wedding ages ago - well it feels like that any way, and as soon as they mentioned the venue I was excited! I had heard and seen many wonderful things about Owen House and it didn't disappoint, but more about that later.

When we first met we went for a lovely pre-wedding shoot at Entwistle Reservoir with their pooch Bradley who made a very special appearance at the wedding - and a very good boy he was too! This was my first wedding of 2018 and it was so so so good. Both Katy and Matt's famillies were wonderfully accommodating and the day was so much fun.

Katy and her bridesmaids, including two sisters, best friend and best friend's daughter Olive all got ready at Katy's parents house in Bolton where they were picked up and driven to St Peter’s Church in Bolton. Katy arrived in a fabulous vintage VW Beetle (aptly named Bradley after the dog) and Bradley (the dog)  waited at the top of the aisle patiently for Katy along with Matthew. It was a lovely service with Matt's brother playing the guitar for some of the hymns.

Unfortunately the weather wasn't great so straight after the church service we headed off to Owen House Wedding Barn. Opened in 2013 the barn has been lovingly restored and is quirky and quality in equal measures. The added bonus for me was that even though it was throwing it down outside there were so many indoor photo opportunities and backdrops. Bradley came along for some pictures and once they were done it was on with enjoying the day. The speeches had a great surprise - a recorded video message from SIR Bradley Wiggins (are all the Bradleys starting to get confusing?!) Matthew was truly speechless!

A first for me the Wedding Breakfast was actual breakfast - scrambled egg, black pudding and all the trimmings - so bloody good, although I didn't want to work after I had eaten it, an evening nap was required! The food was followed by dancing, lots and lots of dancing! When Katy, Matt and I had first met we discussed music (as I love music) and I gave them a recommendation for a wedding band - The Seals. I had seen them at a wedding in 2015 and they have stuck in my mind as one of the best wedding bands to date. Katy and Matt went ahead and booked them - no pressure Kirsty, and I am pretty sure that they didn't disappoint. As I left pizza was being served up from the back of a converted van and I have a very good feeling that even though there had already been a good couple of hours of dancing, the night was yet young!

Thank you Katy and Matt for having me it was an absolute dream, Kirsty xxxxx
