Photographing those first moments in a natural, un-obtrusive way
When I had my three babies I realised that there wasn’t much in the way of natural newborn photography. I wanted something that mirrored the style of my weddings, authentic and true to the moment, so I started exploring lifestyle, home-based photography. Now I travel through Lancashire and across the U.K photographing families and newborn babies in their own homes.
A modern approach
I keep my newborn shoots very simple. I come to your home, (preferably within the first two weeks from when the baby is born). No bright lights, no props, just your beautiful baby in its natural environment, capturing their quirks, cute little first yawns and smiles. Because the shoot is done in your home you can also include siblings, Grandparents and pets if you wish. I use your soft furnishings and clothing to make the shoot completely personalised to you.

Newborn Photography Pricing.
Lifestyle Newborn at home photoshoots include a session with me for up to three hours. That doesn’t always mean that they will last three hours and it doesn’t mean that I will be photographing for three hours. This is to work around feeds and changes etc. The average length is around two hours.
Images are professionally edited in my unique style and supplied on a digital gallery for you to download and share with family and friends. On average you will receive around 100 - 150 photographs.

FAQ’s
WHEN SHOULD WE DO THE SHOOT?
If you want a sleepy, curled up baby it’s best to do the shoot in the first 5-10 days. However these shoots can be done at any time, whenever you feel ready, the further away from the birth the more alert/ awake they will be.
DO WE HAVE TO BE IN THE PICTURES?
You don't have to be in the pictures, however because of this style of photography some interaction is sometimes necessary, especially if baby is unsettled and needs soothing. If you really don't want to be in the images please say beforehand.
WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?
Try and wear colours from a pallete so for example neutrals or pastels, before the shoot lay the clothes out on the bed and check that none of the colours clash. Try and avoid heavy patterns.
WHERE WILL YOU USE?
Generally speaking I use the living room and a bedroom but it comes down to where the light is best.
WHAT WILL WE NEED?
Firstly I will need a room with a decent amount of light and access to a space near a window. Don't worry though, when I arrive we will have a look round and I will pick the best spot! With being a documentary style photographer I don't use props, however favourite blankets, teddies etc are always welcome! Plenty of clean, ironed muslins too! If your baby uses a dummy please have it handy too just incase they need soothing.
WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE YOU ARRIVE?
About half an hour before I arrive it’s worth putting the heating on and stripping your little one down to their nappy or a vest and wrapping them in a blanket, then about 15 minutes bofore I arrive feed them in the hope that when I arrive they are fast asleep.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?
As we know, babies work on their own timeline, so it's important not to put too much pressure on yourselves or the baby. I normally allow up to three hours or so, however don't be surprised if it takes a little longer! I won’t be taking pictures for this whole time. We will work around feeds and nappy changes. Please don't worry if baby becomes fussy, it will happen at some point and we will work around it.
CAN WE INCLUDE SIBLINGS/ PETS?
Of course! But please keep in mind that younger siblings might not always perform as you'd like them to, try not to put too much pressure on them.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE SHOOT?
I will go away and edit the images and deliver a digital gallery to you within a few weeks or so of the shoot.
From there you can send the link to family and friends and the images can be downloaded. I also do prints, framed images and canvasses etc.
